OpticalSorting.org was founded by Charith Gunawardena whose career with manufacturers of optical sorters has spanned over three decades where he influenced over a billion dollars of machine sales.

As an engineer he initially designed solutions for a range of optical sorters serving multiple industry segments.  Subsequently he collaborated with food processors and recyclers worldwide to learn and capture their unfulfilled requirements for new machine innovations.

He has travelled extensively and visited food processors, millers, manufacturers and recyclers around the world.   

He is an advocate for sustainable solutions with a strong emphasis on safe foods and recycled plastics.
